About Susan
February 6th, 2009Well it’s an eclectic background that hangs together in a wonderfully synergistic way. At least it does for me. It’s been an interesting ride.
The Stress Reducer Blog is really a case of what goes around comes around. The very first project I did in graduate school was a project on stress. This was in 1985 when I was a student at Lesley College (MA Counseling Psychology).
Given the tremendous stress we are under as a planetary culture, this seems like the optimum time to resurrect this work. I hope you find it helpful.
For almost 20 years I practiced as a transpersonal psychotherapist. What’s that you ask?
My personal definition – the goal of transpersonal psychotherapy is to shift one’s identification from ego to soul. Don’t know if that helps or not. Suffice it to say it’s a blending of traditional developmental psychology and spiritual practice and perspective.
Through much of this time, I was (and continue to be) a student of Sufism and was teaching meditation through a variety of adult education programs.
In 2003 my practice shifted into working with artists, writers, and healers as a coach focusing on getting the work done and out into the market. Who knew there were so many obstacles to overcome? Only kidding.
Over the years I have learned tons about internet marketing…and there is a lot to learn. That combined with previous retail and business management experience has added business coaching to the menu so I now also work with independent service professionals, creative professionals and new business start ups.
For a change of pace, I wrote a book on grief a while back. It draws on my years of working for hospice providing bereavement followup.
On a personal level, I have lived in rural Rhode Island for the past 4 years (almost) with my golden retriever, Heidi. I didn’t know this when I picked the name but it means exalted one. The name fits. One of the great gifts of living here is that we get to walk on the beach almost every day. It’s a great stress reducer.
It’s a good life, and my hope is that the information I share here will help your life be every bit as good.
Thanks for stopping by,
Susan Fuller
